Mike Ockerman
Mike Ockerman (Bujinkan Shihan) is a volunteer instructor at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo, where he began his Bujinkan training in 2001. In the United States, Mike primarily studied under Marty Dunsky, Jeff Ochester, Dan Klug, and Sean Askew. Since 2007, he has regularly visited Japan to train with senior Japanese Bujinkan instructors, including classes taught by Hatsumi Soke, Nagato Daishihan, Noguchi Daishihan, Someya Daishihan, and others. Mike passed the Godan test at the Bujinkan Hombu in 2014 and advanced to Judan in 2022. Mike is currently ranked Juichidan (Chi-i Happo Biken Menkyo).
A long-standing volunteer for major Bujinkan events, Mike has contributed and taught at numerous Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai, and served as a core team member supporting Nagato Daishihan during his 2021 and 2025 U.S. Tai Kai tours.
Mike is a senior instructor at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo. He teaches Budo Taijutsu on Mondays and Fridays, in the evening, and the kids class on Saturday mornings. Mike is also the founder of Mike’s Gym, which focuses on striking exercises in a designated class each Saturday afternoon.
