Bujinkan 2026 Noguchi Taikai | Detroit, MI
Hosted by Daishihan Sean Askew from the Bujinkan Kokusai Renkomyo (BKR) Dojo, join the Bujinkan community for the 5th annual Noguchi Taikai, an unforgettable weekend of training with Noguchi Yukio Sensei, Bujinkan Daishihan and Headmaster of Koto Ryū Happō Biken. Held in Detroit, Michigan for three days from March 6-8, 2026, Detroit will become a global hub for the Bujinkan community, bringing together practitioners of all levels to learn, train, and connect.
Adult Extended Saturday Training Class
The Adult Extended Training Class is open to Dayton Bujinkan Dojo adult members, young adult members, and approved guests. Training is conducted from 10:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on select Saturdays. Costs are free for dojo members; $20 per for non-dojo Bujinkan members.
CPR/First Aid Training for Dojo Instructors (Tentative)
Save the date! The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host a CPR and First Aid training session on (tentative) Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1 to 3 PM. Participation is annually required for all Dayton Bujinkan Dojo instructors and assistants, and voluntary for dojo students ranked Shidoshi+.

Fundamental Budo Taijutsu Striking Workshop
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host a Fundamental Budo Taijutsu Striking Workshop on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. This workshop will explore core striking skills and methods, offering both a review of foundational techniques and an introduction to more advanced applications. Training will include striking mechanics and fist types drawn from the Bujinkan’s Ten Chi Jin Ryaku no Maki.

10 Year Dojo Facility Celebration Seminar
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host the 10 Year Dojo Facility Celebration Seminar on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. January 2016 marked a major milestone when the organization purchased and renovated the building that serves as its training home today. To celebrate a decade of training in this dedicated space, the dojo will hold a special seminar featuring instructional sessions taught by the lead instructors of the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo.

Fundamental Flexible Weapons Workshop
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is holding a Fundamental Flexible Weapons Workshop on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. Training will focus on the kusari fundo, kyoketsu shoge, and nage nawa (rope throwing).

2026 Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai
The 2026 Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai is being held in Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, on July 31 to August 2, 2026. Hosted by Shidoshi Ben Batey of the Bujinkan BGSU Falcon Dojo, this is the 18th year for the event.

Gyaku Waza Workshop
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host a Gyaku Waza Workshop on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. This seminar will focus on learning to manipulate and reverse the kihon waza of Budo Taijutsu.
Back from Japan Workshop
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host a ‘Back From Japan’ Workshop on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. This workshop is designed to review and share material explored during recent training in Japan, offering attendees a glimpse into the themes and ideas presented by Japanese senior instructors.

Nidan-Yondan Curriculum Workshop
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host a Nidan–Yondan Curriculum Review Workshop on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. This workshop will review the nidan, sandan, and yondan requirements from the dojo’s training curriculum, including the techniques, weapons, skillsets, and drills expected of students progressing through these ranks.

Dayton Bujinkan Dojo Shinnenkai Seminar & Celebration
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is holding its annual Shinnenkai (& mini Dai Komyo Sai) Training Event & Celebration on the evening of Friday, January 30, 2026, and all day Saturday, January 31, 2026. Senior Bujinkan instructors Alan Sakoman, Andy Russell, Dustin Mowery, and Dan Klug return once again to offer their insights and experience in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. The theme of the event is the use of the Kodachi (short-sword, kodachijutsu, 小太刀術). Instructors will explore and guide participants on how to naturally move, defend, and engage while armed, emphasizing the essential principles of the Kodachi using Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.
Dayton Bujinkan Dojo Kotohajime Event
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is holding its annual Kotohajime event on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 12:30-4:00 PM after the adult class. The Kotohajime event is a cleaning of the dojo and 1000 cuts to welcome the new year! Led by Senior Instructor Jess Attilli and Dojo Assistant John Comesky, the event is free for all Dojo members, their families, and approved guests to participate in.
Dayton Bujinkan Dojo Fundamental Kenjutsu/Battojutsu Workshop
On Saturday, December 13th, from 11 AM to 4:30 PM, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host a Fundamental Kenjutsu and Battojutsu Workshop. The workshop will focus on core kenjutsu techniques (剣術; fighting with a drawn sword) and battojutsu methods (抜刀術; drawing the sword and immediately attacking or defending) as taught in the Bujinkan.

In early October, a group of members from the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo and Fairfield County Bujinkan Dojo returned from training in Japan. The "Back from Japan" workshop will focus on exploring the budo taijutsu and lessons covered in classes while training in Japan and sharing stories from the trip. The workshop will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 10:45 AM to 4:30 PM with instruction broken down into 30-min sessions.
