Dayton Bujinkan Dojo Fundamental Hanbojutsu Workshop

On Saturday, October 18th, from 11 AM to 4:30 PM, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will host a Fundamental Hanbojutsu Workshop. This workshop will delve into core movements incorporating the hanbo (3-foot stick, 半棒), covering essential techniques such as ukemi (breakfalls), striking, joint locks, throws, and defensive tactics as taught in the Bujinkan. The workshop is open to all ranks, and new students are encouraged to attend. The workshop will be taught by Jeff Ochester with assistance from Dayton Bujinkan Dojo senior instructors.
Schedule:
11:00 AM: Bow-in, Kamae, and Ukemi
11:30 AM to 12:30 PM: Striking
12:30 PM to 2:00 PM: Lunch Break
2:00 PM to 3:00 PM: Joint Locks (gyaku, musha dori, muso dori, onikudaki, etc.)
3:00 PM to 3:45 PM: Throws (nage waza, sutemi waza, otoshi, etc.)
3:45 PM to 4:30 PM: Weapons Defense (uchidachi, muto dori, etc.) & Demonstrations
Attendees are encouraged to wear a full do-gi uniform and bring a notebook. While the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo will have training hanbo available, we encourage participants to bring their own if possible.
The event is reserved for young adult and adult members of the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo, past workshop participants, and approved guests. (If you haven't attended an event at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo before, please request attendance prior to registering to avoid any issues.) The cost is $40 per person. Registration is free, pay at the door.
