Class Descriptions

Kids Classes are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Kids Class at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo provides structured instruction for youth and young‑adult students ages six to thirteen. Participants are grouped by age to ensure training that aligns with their developmental stage and curriculum level. Class activities may include rolling, striking, grappling, and skill‑building drills drawn from Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo curriculum, and the instructor’s experience, focus, and training philosophy.

Adult Basic Class is held on Thursdays. The Adult Basic Class at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo provides structured training for new adult practitioners and students wishing to review foundational Budo Taijutsu concepts. It includes reviewing the Dojo’s training curriculum Kyu Rank material. It is open to adult members, young‑adult members, and approved guests. Class content may include rolling, striking, grappling, weapons practice, foundational drills, and ryu‑ha kata, drawn from Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo curriculum, and the instructor’s experience, focus, and training philosophy.

Adult Combo Class is held Monday through Thursday and Saturdays. The Adult Combination (“Combo”) Class at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo provides structured training for adult practitioners of all ranks (all combinations), including beginners and senior students, and is open to adult members, young‑adult members, and approved guests. Instruction is tailored to the skill levels of the students in attendance by the class instructor. Class content may include rolling, striking, grappling, weapons practice, foundational drills, and ryu‑ha kata, drawn from Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo curriculum, and the instructor’s experience, focus, and training philosophy.

Adult Advanced Class is held on Wednesdays. The Adult Advanced Class at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo offers structured instruction for adult practitioners ranked from 5th Kyu through black belt, with emphasis on shodan‑level students and above. Participation is open to adult members, young‑adult members, and approved guests. Instruction integrates advanced concepts, ryu‑ha kata, weapons training, and historical Bujinkan themes, guided by the instructor’s expertise and training philosophy. Class content may include rolling, striking, grappling, weapons practice, foundational drills, and ryu‑ha kata, drawn from Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo curriculum, and the instructor’s experience, focus, and training philosophy.

The Adult Extended Training Class is open to Dayton Bujinkan Dojo adult members, young adult members, and approved guests. Training is conducted from 10:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on select Saturdays (typically on the first Saturday of each month) and includes a 15‑minute break at noon. Instruction during this session emphasizes Bujinkan ryu‑ha–specific material drawn from Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo curriculum, and the instructor’s experience, focus, and training philosophy.

Adult Boxing & Randori Class is held on Fridays. The Adult Boxing and Randori Class at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo emphasizes resistance-based, principle‑driven striking and training, including ground work (ne waza), free‑response sparring (yakusoku randori), and submission practice. Participation is limited to adult members ranked 5th kyu and above, and approved guests. Class activities may include rolling, striking, grappling, and resistant skill‑building drills drawn from Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo curriculum, and the instructor’s experience, focus, and training philosophy.

Mike’s Gym Striking Class is held on Saturdays. The Mike’s Gym Striking Class at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo develops core striking skills, including jabs, crosses, lunge punches, hooks, uppercuts, kicks, and combination work. Training utilizes heavy bags and striking targets. The class is designed to refine technique and build endurance through junan taiso exercises and dakentaijutsu striking principles. Participation is open to adult members and approved guests. Class activities are taught by Mike based on his experience, focus, and training philosophy.
Walk-In Policy
The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is a private training facility and does not permit casual visits from the public. We welcome visiting Bujinkan practitioners to attend class as a "walk-in" if they have previously trained with us or have a reference from another Bujinkan dojo. If you do not meet these requirements, please submit a visit request using the "Join the Dojo" link before you plan to attend. Please understand that the instructor of any class retains the full right to deny walk-in attendance at their sole discretion.
