Kyu Rank Workshop & Yagen (薬研) Crushing Tool
On October 19, 2024, we held a workshop on 9th Kyu through 7th Kyu material from the adult curriculum. Midway through the session, it was great to have Bob Ensign teach and provide artifacts related to the old ways of making metsubushi (目潰し) blinding powder from the Togakure Ryu. He brought in a wooden Yagen (薬研) crushing tool from 1930, and prepared a few eggs to show the process. (Thank you John for demonstrating the egg crushing and metsubushi...outside!)
