Blog: Bujinkan Hombu Old and New 2015
Dayton Bujinkan Dojo instructor Bob Ensign recently came back from Japan and took some photos of the old hombu coming down and the new hombu training location. Here are his notes and pictures. Thanks Bob!

“The building in Japan sat very close to the tracks of the Tobu Noda line. Every few minutes a train would come by almost drowning out Soke or the Shihan teaching that class. Those of you who have been to Japan know that this was part of the ambiance of the hombu dojo. That building no longer exists. The Atago station is undergoing renovation and a bike/walking path is being built along the tracks. The dojo was in the path of the construction. Fortunately, a new site for the dojo was found just a few steps from the old one. A ceremony was held last October to consecrate the new site. Construction occurred rapidly and by this February the new hombu was ready. The original hombu officially opened on September 9th, 1997 ( 平成九年九月九日). The last class was held on February 22, 2015. Here are photos of the old hombu as it was taken apart. Think of all people from around the world that donated a little of their soul to that building.........”
"Last October [2014] a ceremony was held to consecrate the site of the new hombu dojo. The building went up quickly. Several shihan began teaching there the week of February 23rd of this year [2015]. Soke's first class was the evening of Friday, February 27th. At a small Shidoshi-kai lunch Soke asked us to tell everyone that they should come and train at the hombu dojo regardless of rank. Here are some photos of the new dojo."
