Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai

August 2017 | Dayton Bujinkan Dojo

It's coming. The 2017 Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai celebrating its tenth year. Planning has begun for a multi-day training event and celebration for all Bujinkan Mid-westerners to attend. Of course Bujinkan students from across the U.S. are invited too.

Scheduled for August of 2017 and hosted by the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo in Moraine Ohio, the 2017 Midwest Tai Kai will be an event for the ages. Dozens of instructors from the Midwest will be coaching and teaching. There will likely be special training classes each day and night leading up the grand event - a three day training seminar (Friday night, Saturday and Sunday) celebrating the Bujinkan Community and Hatsumi Soke's Budo.

The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo last hosted the Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai in 2008 - it's first year. Back then, 120+ students, friends and instructors came to Dayton for a wild idea of a training event. And there was no air-conditioning.

For the 2017 Midwest Tai Kai, the accommodations will be better. The Dojo's 9200 square foot facility with 107 training mats + an extra 30-tatami area will be the hub for training. All under one roof. With air conditioning.

We would be remissed not to mention all of the hosting dojo for the past ten years. They have raised the bar every year. The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo has its work cutout. We will be reaching out to them for guidance and suggestions. And of course to invite them back to Dayton.

Mike Loonam Seminar

The Weekend of Oct. 7, 2017

Mike Loonam (Bujinkan Shihan) is visiting Dayton on the weekend of October 7, 2017 to teach a Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu Seminar! This will be Mike's first visit to the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo.

Mike is a longtime Bujinkan practitioner who lived in Japan for more than twenty years (1991-2013). He is best known for being Noguchi Shihan's senior foreign student. Mike is originally from the UK and currently lives in the Netherlands.

As described in other seminars:

"With Mike Loonam, we are raising our foundations. He has experience of living in Japan for over twenty years and literally thousands of hours of scrutiny under the direction of distinguished teachers, he can correct in seconds bad habits that have taken years to develop. Most of his training is in the Noguchi dojo. There are people who follow other teachers for their personal preference, but no one else has been a "teacher-maker" like Noguchi-sensei. This is true especially in Japan where many of his Japanese students have gone on to open their own dojos. These include: Tanaka, Tomiyama, Nagase, Nakadai, Sakasai, Shiraishi, and Someya. I'm sure there are more, but no one else has had that kind of record. Mr Loonam provides what he has been taught and also acts as a great bridge for people passionate about skill." ~ Jim Shore, longtime Bujinkan practitioner in Edmonton

This will be a great opportunity to train with a senior Bujinkan instructor! More information coming soon - save the date!
