2020 Kotohajime

Sunday January 12, 2020 | Dayton Bujinkan Dojo

The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo invites all current members to our 2020 Kotohajime on Sunday January 12, 2020. Please help us prepare and celebrate "the beginning of things".

We'll start the day with a team effort, as we work together to thoroughly clean the dojo in preparation for an exciting 2020 (and to get ready for the upcoming Dan Klug seminar). Then we'll move on to a training challenge to kick off the new year, where Jess Attilli will lead us through 1000 bokken cuts. Then we'll celebrate the accomplishments of the day with a party and free catered meal from Chipotle.

The tentative Kotohajime schedule is:

  • 12:00pm-2:00pm: Group Effort Dojo Cleaning (daken room, yoga room, training mats, weapons storage, men's & women's locker rooms)
  • 2:00pm-4:00pm: 1000 cuts with Jess Attilli
  • 4:00pm-5:00pm: Party and free food
  • 5:00pm-6:00: Final cleaning of the kitchen, bar, and sitting area

The 2020 Kotohajime is a free event reserved for active students (those with current memberships) of the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo. Please register on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/472494213617448/.

For questions or to request attendance as a non-member, please speak to an instructor at the Dojo or email dojo-info@daytonbujinkan.com.

Dan Klug Seminar & Yearly Winter Celebration

January 24-25, 2020 | Dayton Bujinkan Dojo

The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is holding its Mini Dai Komyo Sai Winter Celebration on Friday and Saturday, January 24-25, 2020. What is a Dai Komyo Sai? It is the celebration of Hatsumi Soke's birthday, and another year of successful training in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo. All students, friends, family and guests are welcome to attend the training and/or dinner celebration.

As is tradition, Dan Klug (Bujinkan Judan, boxer and BJJ brown belt) from Tacoma Washington is the featured guest instructor for the event. Dan has been training since the early 1980s, has been to Japan more than a dozen times, and holds regular classes weekly in Washington State. An original student of Kurt Rittenhouse Martial Arts in Kettering, Ohio, Dan has trained in the Bujinkan Arts under Hatsumi Soke, Nagato Shihan, and Noguchi Shihan, and in the past with Manaka Sensei and Muramatsu Sensei. His unique style of Budo Taijutsu attracts students from all disciplines of martial arts. Dan has been teaching seminars at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo since 1997.
