Steve Olsen Seminar

The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is excited to announce a Budo Taijutsu Seminar featuring Steve Olsen from Japan. The event will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 24-26, 2019 at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo. Any Bujinkan rank is invited — new students are encouraged to attend.

Steve Olsen (Bujinkan Shihan) has been training in Japan since 2001. He trains with Hatsumi Soke, Nagato Dai Shihan and Someya Dai Shihan weekly. In addition, Steve is the publisher of two arts books titled 'Masaaki Hatsumi: Dojo Art' and ‘Masaaki Hatsumi: Dojo Giga | Heaven’. He has taught yearly seminars at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo since 2010, and we are excited to have him back! Steve will be teaching based on inspirations from Soke and the senior Shihan classes he has attended this year in Japan.

Paul Masse Seminar

June 22-23, 2019 | Dayton Bujinkan Dojo

Paul Masse will be joining us in Dayton, OH for a fantastic perspective on Hatsumi Sensei's budo. For over two decades, Paul Masse has lived in Japan, training in the Bujinkan. Along with his considerable history with the art, Paul juggles chainsaws on unicycles, paints Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo), ink painting (Suiboku), and Japanese Pottery. Such skills have been on display at various exhibitions in Japan. Furthermore, Paul Masse has traveled across India, studying Yoga. This incredible flexibility combines with his study of the Junan Taiso for a powerful expression of Hatsumi Sensei's movement.

Paul is the director of the Kasumi An Study Center in Nodashi, Chiba-ken (Japan). Kasumi An is dedicated to the study and practice of traditional Japanese arts. Primarily focusing on the traditional martial arts as taught by Grandmaster Hatsumi Masaaki of the Bujinkan. The Study center features lessons in Junan Taiso (strength and flexibility), Bujinkan martial movement, ink painting and other arts when available.

2019 Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai

Genevieve Prange of Michigan has announced information about the 2019 Bujinkan Tai Kai:

"I am pleased to announce that the 2019 Midwest Taikai will be held in Detroit, Michigan, USA on the first weekend in August. I am also very excited to announce that the theme will be “女の護身術 or Onna no Goshinjutsu.”

Onna no Goshinjutsu is a reference to women's self defense, or self-defense leveraging techniques as a women. The event will be open to all Bujinkan member (men and women).

Japan Training Trip

Sept/Oct 2019

A group of students and instructors will be visiting Japan for training with Hatsumi Soke and the Japanese Shihan at the end of September or early October 2019. Groups are kept small, but if you are interested in attending please see an instructor at the Dojo.

Simply interested in knowing what's involved for a potential future trip? Talk with any of the instructors for more information about costs, flights, expectations, weather, etc.

Shodan-Yondan Work Shop

October/November 2019 | Dayton Bujinkan Dojo

The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is holding a blackbelt seminar focusing on Shodan, Nidan, Sandan and Yondan material from its adult student training curriculum. The workshop is open to active adult students of the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo or pre-registered Bujinkan students who are pre-approved. Students attending must be 3rd Kyu or above to attend the training.

The workshop is free for active students of the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo.

Training will take place from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. From 4:00-4:30 pm, demonstrations will be held.

The workshop will focus on intermediate and advanced training drills, kata and strategies taught at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo. Please where a full do-gi and bring a notebook.
