A big thanks to both Pete Reynolds and Craig Olson (here is a group photo of Craig, Pete, and the dojo owners) for some excellent training over the past two weeks. They both offered a great way to train on concepts being explored in Japan only a few weeks ago. Thank you to both of them for visiting the Dojo!
Also, thank you to the Middle Tennessee Bujinkan Dojo for hosting Jeff Ochester for a seminar. It was great to see old friends and new faces.

Craig Olson from Japan will be in town for business starting Sept
26th. During his trip, you may seem him teaching/training at the
dojo. It is highly recommended that you try to attend any classes
taught by Craig.(Craig has lived in Japan since 1997, is a 15th Dan
(Bujinkan), and commonly interprets for Nagato Sensei and Hatsumi
Soke. He translates professionally for Quest Videos, the company
that produces Soke's Budo DVD's. View Craig's

The dojo was closed today (Monday, 9/15/08) due to a loss of power. The reminiscence of Hurricane Ike came through our Midwest state Sunday afternoon and created 70+ MPH winds, knocking over trees, damaging roofs, and falling power lines. The dojo lost power and the rear tarp has been torn. Photo-A & Photo-B are from Jeff O's yard. At one point during the windstorm, two million people in Ohio had lost power. After three days, there are still 200K people without electricity. Lights or no lights, classes will reopen Tuesday.

The Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai held at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo was a great success! More than 118 people attended the event. Photos have been added on the Tai Kai website at www.midwestbujinkantaikai.org for you to view. A big thank you to all the dojo students who put time in helping to clean, setup, register students, or generally help out. Without your assistance, the Tai Kai would not have been successful. We look forward to the 2009 Midwest Bujinkan Taikai somewhere in middle America!

June 14, 2008
The Saturday, June 14th Adult class was canceled today because of a safety hazard at the dojo. The facility east of our location had a gasoline leak which caused a strong gas fume odor to fill the dojo. The Fire Department was called and evacuated the area until noon. A leaking fuel tank was found as the origin. We apologize for any inconvenience. The dojo has since re-opened and classes have resumed to their normal schedule.

Back from Japan: A group of five dojo students went to Japan for training during the first week of April. A written trip review is available at the dojo. During the trip, plans for holding a local Dayton Bujinkan Taikai were supported by Hatsumi Soke. More information about the event will appear at the end of April. We are working to solidify multiple Shidoshi from around the OH/KY/IN area to participate.

"People
today punch differently than in the past. They are better at punching
and attacking than previous generations. So this is why we must train in
a real way."
